After a nice conversation with
Agustinus, the taxi driver brought Simon to Swiss-Belhotel of Manokwari
city. At this lesson, we present a sample of basic English conversation between
Simon Baker and Ana - the receptionist of Swiss-Belhotel.
Receptionist:
Hello, good morning. Is there anything I can do for you, sir?
Simon: Hi, I am Simon. I have just arrived here by Express Air. I
have reserved a room through your online website. I will be staying here for
six days.
Receptionist: What's your complete name, sir?
Simon: Simon Baker.
Receptionist: Could I see your passport and visa, sir?
Simon: Here you are.
Receptionist: Wait a moment, Mr. Baker. I need to write down the
number of your passport into our registration book. Yes, from our computer,
you have reserved the room 034 from 13 November to 18 November. Have you got
your "surat jalan."
Simon: What is it?
Receptionist: You need a "surat jalan" or "walking permit"
where ever you travel around West Papua.
Simon: Where can I get it?
Receptionist: You can obtain the surat jalan from the police station.
You can go there after you put your luggage in your room. Here is the key,
Mr. Baker. I hope that you will enjoy your holiday in this city. Here are
your passport and your visa too.
Simon: Thank you. Oh, yeah. I want to go to Mansinam island tomorrow.
Can you arrange a boat for me?
Receptionist: I am sorry sir, I cannot arrange the boat for you but I
can arrange the hotel's car to bring you to the Ketapang boat station
tomorrow. From there you can take a water taxi to the island.
Simon: How much do you charge for the car?
Receptionist: It is Rp. 50,000 (go and return). When you have
returned to the boat station, just call me and I will send the car again to
pick you up.
Simon: It sounds nice. I'll go tomorrow morning at 7 a.m. Is the car
available?
Receptionist: It's available. We'll do our best to serve you, Mr.
Baker.
Simon: Sorry, I haven't known your name.
Receptionist: I am Ana. Nice to meet you, Mr. Baker.
Simon: Nice to meet you too, Ana.
