Basic English Conversation Lessons

In order to communicate fluently in English, learners of this international language need to practice speaking every day. However they do not know the type of conversation lessons which they should study to begin mastering basic English dialogues. Through this website, I want to recommend some lessons for anybody who want to study Basic English Conversation with their friends. The content of the lessons is limited to daily activities both at home, and at school. In general, the topic of conversations that we need to practice with our speaking partners can be divided into some lessons as follows:

• Introduction: Are you Eleine?; Are you Barry?

• Occupations: Is he a doctor?; What do you do, Alex?

• Address and telephone number: What's your name?; Where is the house?

• Time and activities: There is a soccer game at the stadium ; What time is it?

• Illness and Ailments: I have a stomachache; I have a terrible cold

The above sample of Basic English Conversation lessons have been developed to help English learners approach the language without having to make a lot of mistakes. Learners only need read the sentences in the conversation, play the sound control to listen to the dialogues and begin imitating the pronunciation. In spoken English, we often hear that native speakers shorten the grammatical elements in sentences, for instance, I am will be shorten into I'm. When there are a lot of shortened phrases in a conversation, beginning English learners will be confused. So, it is better to read every sentence in the whole dialogue to get an idea of its content.

There are a lot of English language course institutions that are now offering English conversation programs. Some of them have even been focused on certain profession such as hotel, tour and travel business, banking, or law. Mastering certain professional topics in English conversation does not guarantee that the English learners have already got the necessary skills in that kind of job. My recommendation to all of you is that you need to master general English conversation topics before you go deeper into studying dialogues that are aimed at improving your skills in discussing matters related to your job or professional skills. In other words, you cannot master this language is you don't begin by learning its basic topics that are usually taught in General English programs. If you haven't enrolled in a GE program, I suggest that you don't study a more specific conversation program or you will find a lot of difficulties in that kind of course.

Based on my personal experience in using English language in my daily activities guiding foreign tourists, the topics of conversation that we often discuss are simple things that people talk about in every community. Whether you are an English or Chinese, you will always discuss such matters as family, health, education and your jobs.
