When beginning English learners study the introductory lessons of English language, they will deal with a number of basic conversations that have been designed to help them speak English with very limited vocabularies and grammar knowledge. In this Englishland website, we have prepared a lot of English dialogs that are suitable for people who study this international language for the first time. Most of the dialogues can be read or watched in the conversation category. Dialog English should be seen as sample and will not always be the same when learners try to practice their communicative skills in the real life.

Samples of dialogs for Basic English Conversation in general range from introduction, to telling the time, to informing where someone lives. When listening or watching the samples, learners should try to recognize the pronunciations and intonations of the sentences. In addition, they have to pay attention to the prepositions that are mentioned in the whole dialogue. I know that it is difficult for beginning English learners to catch all the sentences or phrases spoken in the dialogues provided in the conversation category. Therefore, I have provided play button which a learner can use to play the conversation again if he or she is not sure about the words that have just been said by the speakers in the dialog.

In addition, to help English learners improve their listening skills during their study of English language practice, I have typed the scripts of the dialogues for most of the samples of the conversation lessons. Please, read them first before starting to listen to the dialogs so that you will easily recognize the words or phrases that are mentioned in the audio or video recordings. For instance, in Conversation 1, the dialogue is very short and listeners can follow it by pressing the play button located on the right side of the picture. After listening to the conversation, learners can try to evaluate their understanding of the dialog by trying to answer the exercise below it. I encourage all students who are studying to see Practice Basic English Conversation for more samples of the subjects that have been prepared for beginners. The vocabularies and the grammar topics have been adapted to elementary level. Learners will not feel intimidated when taking the lessons that have been presented in this website. We really wish that after spending some time studying a lot of lessons in this website, you will be able to use your English in real life situation. by Charles Roring
