Beautiful Girls from Switzerland on their hiking trip near Lake Anggi

I have just finished guiding three beautiful girls who came from Switzerland on a trekking and bird watching trips in Arfak mountains of Manokwari this month. They were Isabel, Sara and Eliane. Isabel was accompanied by her handsome boyfriend Beat. First, we went by a 4WD car - Toyota Hilux G series to Lake Anggi. It was a 4-hour car ride from Manokwari city - the capital of West Papua province to Anggi. When we were still one the way to Lake Anggi, the weather was not so good. Early in the morning it had been raining and along our trip to Lake Anggi, the weather was cloudy. One of the girls named Eliane said that she had asked the universe to grant us sunshine that day of the hiking tour. I was doubtful that the universe would grant her what she had requested for.

We arrived in District Anggi at around 10.30. And finally the weather was clear as what all of us had hoped for, particularly the same as what Eliane had expected. The sun was shining from above our heads. The universe answered the request of this beautiful girl. We were now able to see the scenery of Lake Anggi. These Swiss girls decided to have a 2 to 3 hour walk along the edge of Lake Anggi. Uncle Ching who was our driver that morning, drove his car to a cape several kilometers a head of us. I could feel cool breeze on the surface of my skin. The humidity in Anggi is lower than in Manokwari. Most of us suffered from sun burns on our skins. We went down a slope through a footpath which led us to the bank of the lake. Unfortunately, the ground near the lake was quite soft and muddy. We could not walk further. The girls took the chance of taking pictures of the lake and themselves.

When I photographed the scenery of Lake Anggi, I could not use my Sony Cybershot DSC W310. Its display screen was broken. So, it's impossible to know which subject that I would shoot using the digital camera. Fortunately, I had my cell phone with me. It was a Nokia XpressMusic 5630. I activated its camera feature and began shooting the surrounding scenery. The 3.2 mega pixel camera of the cell phone gave me the photographs that I add on this article. The panorama of Lake Anggi is really beautiful.

After that we walked up the slope again and continued our hiking trip again. We walked through some villages. Because of our presence, a lot of villagers particularly children came out of their houses and began talking to us. While we continued walking to the cape where the car had stopped, these Papuan children and some adults were following us from behind.

Lake Anggi looked beautiful that afternoon. It was very quite that day. In the beginning of our tour, I thought that the Swiss girls would not be able to walk for hours. I was wrong. They were really tough. They could walk for hours on a long distance trips in Arfak mountains whose terrains consist of steep slopes and covered with tropical rainforest. Before traveling with these beautiful girls, I only thought that Switzerland is a country that produces high quality watches such as Rolex, Tissot. Now I know that it is the country where world class mountain climbers and trekkers like to go. Swiss people are used to hiking in the mountains. At least, that's the impression that I got from traveling with these girls. Or perhaps they could tirelessly walk up and down the slopes of Arfak mountains because they were wearing excellent quality hiking boots manufactured by the Swiss.

Manokwari regency has a lot of places for hiking tours. Before flying to Manokwari, tourists who want to go hiking in the mountain range of Arfak need to bring hiking shoes, and warm clothing. Mosquito net and insect repellent lotion are also needed especially if the hiking trip include several overnight stays in the tourist guesthouse or in the jungle.
