Colored Pencil Drawing of Two Dophins
I like drawing animals especially dolphins, birds and dogs. The above drawing shows how two dolphins swim on the surface of the blue ocean. The drawing was made in August 2004 when I was still working as an English teacher in Malang city of East Java Indonesia. It was not easy to draw the sea surface due to various shades of blue colors which I had to combine with green and white colors. The surface of the paper had to be a little rough for the watercolor pencils. This is a new type of pencils for drawing artists who are not used to painting directly with watercolor or oil color.
Dolphins are marine mammals that can be found around the world. They are often portrayed as helpers for sailors who experienced ship accident. But it is not clear whether the such story exists in real world. Dolphins eat fish and squid. We often watch on television how experts conduct research on dolphins to assess how smart they are. Marine experts say that dolphins are among the most intelligence animals in the world.

The above watercolor artwork is not in my hands right now. I gave it to a Dutch girl as symbol of friendship in early 2010.

Program of CCTV 9 - CCTV 9 is a state owned TV station of the People’s Republic of
China. It broadcasts in English. Besides presenting news,
sports, and economic programs, the TV station has a special
program for art lovers. It is called Culture Express. Through
this program, TV audience can see various information about art
and cultural events such as painting exhibition, opera and dance
performance, as well as music concert. The program often
features life story of famous artists from China too. Most of
them have given significant contributions to the development of
Chinese art and culture.
