Today I am going to explain about health benefits of cycling. Do you ride bicycle? Most people nowadays do not use bicycle to go around. I personally do. Cycling in the afternoons is my favorite sport. I live in Manokwari, a small town that is now growing rapidly into a big city. Several years ago when this town was still a slow and small, I always saw people on the streets cycling. Now very few do that sport. I am one of them. I choose cycling as my sport because I know that there are a lot of health benefits that I can get from cycling. Based on my personal experience, these are some health benefits that I get after riding my bike for nearly two months (starting from 6 December 2010 to 20 January 2011).
Cycling can improve my body stamina
I feel that can work for longer period of time without easily getting tired. I usually work at night and at 1 p.m. in the afternoons. I use my laptop to write articles related to various topics ranging from tropical rainforest to cruise ship and from cycling to snorkeling. Because making money is my job, I often travel around to collect information and pictures. Particularly when I go hiking in the mountains (for collecting data about rainforest, birds, and herbal medicines), I will not feel exhausted after walking a whole day.
Cycling makes the circulation of blood inside our vessels better
Another health benefits of cycling that I know from reading some articles in the internet that the metabolism in my body is getting better due to improved blood circulation. When I ride bicycle for two hours in the afternoons, I know that my heart beats faster. I will get a lot of sweats. Perspiring is a normal thing in people who are physically active. It is not only water that is coming out of our body when we ride bicycle but various toxic wastes, fats and extra salt are released from beneath the skin of our body. When our body fat is burnt, our blood vessels will not be blocked anymore and our blood will flow smoothly. Perhaps this is the reason why I feel better after cycling. People who ride their bikes regularly hardly ever suffer from cardiovascular diseases.
Psychological effect of cycling
Cycling also helps us release our stress. When I work, I spend most of my time inside my bookshop. Facing computer screen for a few hours will increase tension in my head. I need to refresh my mind by traveling around in places that have beautiful scenery. Cycling to Pasir Putih beach or Cape Bakaro in Manokwari city is what I really like to do after writing one or two articles for my blogs and website. So, another health benefits of cycling is mind refreshment. I think that it is very important for me because after cycling from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. I can sit in front of my computer again and continue my work until night time.
Environmental Effect of Cycling 
If you haven't ride bicycle in the past five years, why don't you try it tomorrow? Perhaps you think that cycling is only suitable for children and teenagers. No, it's a healthy activity that anyone can do every day. It is good for our economy too because we do not have to spend money on imported fuel oil and it is good for the environment. When we ride bicycles, we do not emit CO2 gases. Our city will be quieter (no sound pollution) and no smoke in the air. by Charles Roring
