When communicating in English, conversation and grammar should never be separated. Conversation is how we exchange our opinion or express our will from one to another and the use of proper grammar will help us in delivering our message well. Whatever the content of the conversation, grammar that is used has to be a standard one - meaning that the parties who are involved in the conversation understand the rules of the grammar. For example, if two people talk about events that happened last week, they will use simple past tense. But if the topic of the conversation is about an appointment with their boss next week, the grammar that will be used are the present perfect tense and be going to .

It is important to note that every English learner study grammar seriously.
In other words, grammar or structure is similar to a policeman who controls traffic lanes at a crossroad. To avoid accident and traffic jam, he must direct or manage the cars to use the available lanes in good timing. This principle also applies to English Grammar. The expression of one's idea should be done based on the time expression (tenses). But grammar is not always related to time or tenses. It is more than that. When two businessmen discuss trade deals, they will use quantities. In other words, singular and plural nouns have to be part of the sentences which they are spoken.
Countable Nouns and Uncountable Nouns
In English language we recognize two
kinds of nouns, i.e. countable nouns and uncountable nouns. The
question words that are related to these nouns are
how
much and how many. For
non-count nouns, they can be countable if they are categorized as containerized
materials. So if we say, "There is some water in the glass," with "is" as the
present of "be," we can also say, "There are two glasses of water on the table."
Unless you are a native speaker of English, please, use plain English when you
converse with someone else. Plain English is easy to be understood. It is
learned by all English learners around the world and it is used in all levels of
international activities from world news to inter-governments trade talks.
Speaking with Native Speakers of English
Someone who studies English knows that grammar comprehension plays vital role in both written and spoken English. No matter how large his knowledge of vocabularies is, if he does not use proper grammar, when conversing with people, he will not be able to deliver his opinions or ideas properly. With better understanding of tenses, plural and singular nouns, subject and verb agreement, as well as the regular and irregular vocabularies, ideas and opinions can be exchanged easily.
I understand that it is not easy for beginning learners of English to apply correct grammar when talking with other people in English. They usually focus on the listening. Native English speakers speak fast and this has frequently been a major problem for non-native English speakers. They try hard to understand the content of the conversation spoken by the native English speakers who often use idioms in their sentence. by Charles Roring
