Sony Cyber-shot DSC W-30 is my favorite digital camera. I have shot thousands of photographs using this electronic device. It is a compact electronic equipment that can be used to shoot objects or sceneries in all weather conditions. Actually this is not the newest gadget from Sony corporation because there are a lot of newly launched camera on the market today. As a matter of fact I have been using it for three years now. As a writer, I always need photographs to enrich the content of my articles which I upload to my website and blogs. I will not discuss them in this article because my main focus is on how I use the Sony Cybershot DSC W-30 for my writing works.

As I have said above, photographs are useful illustrations for blog or website content. Readers like to read articles that have embedded photographs or videos. It means that a website whose pages are enriched with relevant content will more likely be visited by a lot of people than a website whose contents are only words. But if a website has too many pictures than articles, it will be very slow when loading on a web browser. We all know that internet users will get bored easily and move to other website or blogs than can load faster on their computer screen. As a result, fewer people will visit it. This is what all webmasters and writers need to know.

Back to the discussion about my digital camera Sony Cyber-shot. When taking pictures, I don't use the highest pixel setting that it has. DSC W-30 is a 6.0 digital camera whose lens is made by Carl Zeiss. Instead of using the 6M setting, I choose the VGA setting. With this setting I will get a photograph whose size is around 150 KB. Pictures with this size can be uploaded on to a website or attached into an email easily.

As a writer and a web designer, I am really aware of image size when I insert a picture into an article. Usually before I insert a photograph into a webpage, which I shot using my camera, I first have to optimize it in Adobe Photoshop. It is the most famous photo editing software in the world. Using Adobe Photoshop CS3, I resize the picture, add a caption where I write some description about the photograph and then I re-save it using Save for Web & Devices option in the file menu.

A few days ago, I read in a Google website that the search engine result is also determined by how fast a webpage loads on a browser. The faster a website or blog loads on the web browser the better will be its rank on Google search result. Therefore, it is important for all internet photographers, webmasters and writers to optimize their web-pages before uploading them on to the internet. As a simple guide, don't put to many photographs on a web-page. I usually put two or three photographs which I have reduced their file sizes using Adobe Photoshop. Now, after reading Google's explanation, I only insert one or two pictures. I hope that by reducing the number of images in one article, it will load faster on the internet and it will be indexed on better rank by search engine.

After reading the above paragraphs, you should know that it is not the high pixel picture that we need for an online article but it is how professional we are in using our digital camera to obtain best angle photo shots with optimized file size. As long as my Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W30 still works well, I don't have any plan to buy new pocket cameras whose high mega pixels are not needed in the internet web usage.

New Digital Camera With Telephoto Capability from Nikon

I like outdoor photography. I often go to the mountains and islands in New Guinea. There I see birds, and scenery that I can take pictures of. So, I need a powerful telephoto camera that can enlarge distant subject such as birds of paradise or cockatoo. Using pocket camera will not be effective for this kind of photography. So I decided to buy Nikon Coolpix P500. I bought it from an online camera store in Jakarta. It arrived in Manokwari in less than one week.
