Tornado Energy Saver Lamp from Philips

Philip, an electronic and electric appliances manufacturer claims that one of its product, the Tornado lamp, can save energy up to 80 percent compared to other incandescent lamps. Last month, the lamp in my kitchen unexpectedly fell and was broken. I had to change it with a new one. The new lamp that I needed, had to be brighter and consumes less energy. I thought that it was impossible to find such lamp as the previous lamp claimed to be one of the most efficient in terms of energy consumption. We live in an era where people are concerned with global warming. Personally, I appreciate Philips for working hard in creating lamp that is more efficient and more durable when used every day. It is a good product and can help us fight global warming. All of us try to live more friendly to our environment through many ways of efficiency. We share cars, use less Air Conditioning, walk to work and ride bicycles. When I saw the packaging box of Philips tornado, I am amazed by Philip's claims of excellent service performances of the lamp that are printed on the outer side of the green box. They are written as follows:

The color of the Tornado lamp is white. The picture of the lamp outside the packaging box says that Tornado only consumes 20 watt but the lamp is extra bright. It means its light or brightness is the same as 100W lamp. From the design of the lamp, I see that its form is spiral. If the spiral is stretched it will look longer than any other lamps that has similar wattage. The spiral tube of Tornado enables the lamp to be longer and to have more light emitting surface. That is the technical reason why Tornado is brighter than its competitors. Perhaps the manufacturer wants to say that a 20 Watt Tornado has brightness which is the same as a 100W incandescent bulb. In addition, Philips claims that its Tornado can function up to 8,000 hours or 4 years. I think the manufacturer of the bulb has to spent a lot of money and many years of research before it can finally produce such lamp with extra-ordinary performance but consumes much less energy.
Claimed performance without Product Guarantee
How about if I as consumer, after using the lamp, find out that it brakes or cannot function before the expected 4 years. Can I get new replacement free of charge? The statement of 8000 service hours is not something light. It has to be taken seriously by consumers who use Tornado in their homes. Well, Philips added another explanation that the 8000 service hours have been calculated based on 5.5 hours use per day. I hope that the lamp is really an energy saver appliance and money saver at the same time. If, after one or two years, it brakes and I have to buy a new lamp, then it will not be a money saver lamp. Well, I'll wait and see. I hope this Tornado still works after 4 years lighting my kitchen. by Charles Roring

Gadget is a small mechanical device or tool. This is the definition of budget that I read in Oxford Advanced Learner's Dictionary. Today people often use the term to describe not only small but smart device (mostly electronic) but also software.  The followings are articles about various electronic equipment that we often use or see advertised on mass media such as television, and the internet. The gadgets are reviewed here to help readers make right decisions before buying the products. Articles, comments, criticisms and suggestions from people who have used the gadgets are important to assess whether the computer or the digital camera or other electronic devices that they want to buy are suitable for them or not.

Digital Camera Panasonic FT3 Lumix - This is a waterproof camera that snorkelers and scuba divers can use to make underwater pictures of coral reef and fish that they see at the bottom of the sea. When I went snorkeling with 2 Dutch tourists near Anggresi beach of Manokwari bay on August 17 2011, I was able to use the underwater camera to take pictures of the corals and various species of tropical fish.  The Panasonic Lumix DMC FT-3 can also be used for outdoor photography when the weather is wet.
