The Development of this Website

I create this website using Microsoft Frontpage 2003. I used to learn how to design a website with Macromedia Dreamweaver 8 but then I stopped because I think that a simple static website can fully be developed using the Frontpage software.  It is a simple web-design software that can be used by anybody who does not know the html language. If he knows word processor and basic Microsoft Windows operations, then he will be able to use Frontpage easily. At first the purpose of this website is to provide materials for those who want to learn English. Later because of the growing need among users of this website for various reading materials, I decide to widen its content to include materials that are related to information technology, health, and environment as well as tourism. When it was first launched on the internet, I used free hosting services provided by Yahoo through its Geocities.com. Unfortunately, this free webhosting services only had limited capacity which was 15 MB. In addition, it cannot be used to process online database application that I might use in the future for expansion of the capabilities of this website.

The number of people who use internet to find tips and tutorials, exercises and sample questions for their English learning activities or to interact with friends and to share information is increasing day by day. Many are ordinary internet users whereas others begin to create blogs, websites. I am one of web-designers and writers (at the same time) who is trying to share my knowledge on the internet by using website. I write most of the articles that are written in this website by myself. Several years ago, Geocities.com stopped providing free webhosting services anymore. My account was closed by the company so, I had to move many of my websites into another webhosting company both the free and the paid services. I have tried several webhosting but finally I conclude that blogger and wordpress are the right places for writing informal articles whereas this website is particularly developed to provide more formal content.

As a matter of fact, besides using Microsoft Frontpage, I also installed Wordpress, Moodle and other CMS (Content Management System) into the web-space that I have paid for this website. But later I uninstalled them again and decided to continue using static website as what you can find here. It is more difficult managing a static website because every page should be designed manually. I used simple template, that I made by myself using the dynamic web template feature which the Microsoft Frontpage 2003 has but I stopped using them anymore and now rely on simple table.

I personally have to say that this Englishland is my most popular website among my other websites and blogs. I know that people sometimes think that this website does not have automated feature for users who want to study language or read articles and giving their comments. If that's what you are looking for than I recommend you to visit my other blogs. I will not install CMS program because I don't want to distract readers or visitors from their main purpose which is to find the content that they really need and read or study them. So, simple contents from static website which you find here are receiving hundreds or even thousands of visitors every day. I hope that Englishland.com will continue to provide useful information to everybody who visits this website for various good reasons.
