Although I call this blog Photography without Photos, I
still use digital camera to shoot objects around me that
I consider interesting to be presented on my blogs. I
have three digital equipments that can be used for my
hobby in photography
The first is Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W30, and the second is my cell phone Nokia XpressMusic 5630 that has a digital photo camera 3.2 mega pixel, and the third is my Pocket PC HP iPAQ.
From these three devices, my favorite is of course the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W30. It is a small and compact yet very powerful digital camera. I shoot most of my photographs using this digital camera. Its lens used to be damaged and we had to send it to Sony representative office in Surabaya to have it repaired. I bring it every where to the forest, to the islands or to the city. I have shot thousands of pictures so far and many of them have been part of the stories that I uploaded in my website, and blogs. The Diary of Manokwari Tourist Guide contains a lot of photographs that I shot using this digital camera. Because the photographs that I uploaded into the internet are meant to enrich and illustrate the stories of my blogs, I have optimized most of them in Adobe Photoshop CS3. I also add caption, or explanation about what was happening in the picture.
Two days ago, I bought an original Memory Stick Duo Pro manufactured by Sony. Its capacity was 2 GB and can store around 10,000 VGA quality photos. With this added gadget, I can increase the productivity of this digital camera and promote ecotourism attractions in town Manokwari city of Papua Barat Province in the Republic of Indonesia.
I remembered the time when I used the digital camera for taking images of bats hanging and flying in natural caves of the Table Mountain of Manokwari (read: Caving in the Table Mountain and How to photograph object in the dark). Shooting objects in a cave is a new experience for me. I failed to obtain clear photos at the time. After many failed attempts and changing of settings, I finally could get brighter pictures after setting the camera to P in its dial mode.
I will continue to use this Sony Cyber-shot until I've got enough money to buy more advanced camera that is equipped with long lens and special container for underwater shootings. by Charles Roring
