Just a few hours ago, a friend of mine Agus Nauw who is a journalist came and gave me three photographs of a crashed airplane. He went to the Rendani airport of Manokwari city to see and take pictures of a Merpati jetliner that skidded of the runway and fell into the river bank near the airport. Then he asked me to send the photographs to Antara- an Indonesian News Agency and Papua Baru tabloid in Jayapura. These photographs are important because airplane accident is a world news. Many times such accidents caused a lot of victims both on passengers and crews of the airplanes. Manokwari is the capital of Papua Barat province of Indonesia. There are two provinces in West Papua now, Papua and Papua Barat. The capital of Papua is Jayapura. Airplane accidents frequently occur in West Papua particularly in the mountainous regions. However the accidents in Rendani airport as shown in these pictures and the recent one in Kaimana town have raised concerns from people around the world about the Indonesian aviation safety standard and to whether there are radar equipments installed in most of the airports in West Papua.
My friend used his Sony Ericsson mobile phone to get the snapshots of the crashed airplane. After the photographs had been copied into the hard-disk of my laptop, I then optimized them with Adobe Photoshop CS 3, the best photo editing software in the world. I enlarged the canvas size of the photos especially at the bottom so that I could write some explanation about what was going on in the picture based on Agus Nauw's explanation.
I am surprised to see that the photographs shot by using the Sony Ericsson cell phone are good although their pixel quality is smaller than those shot by using digital still photo camera  like what I usually use - the Sony Cybershot DSC-W30.

Now I have a telephoto point and shoot digital camera - Nikon Coolpix P500. With its 36 x optical zoom capability, the camera can take distant subjects that can not be seen by our naked eyes. I am really impressed by this camera whose lens is Nikkor 4.0 - 144 mm with 36x Wide Optical Zoom ED VR. I am not a photographer by profession. I am a writer. I need photographs to give more illustration to my writings that I put on my websites, hubpages and blogs. I write about anything from rainforest preservation to ecotourism and from ship design to health. With my newest Nikon Coolpix P500 camera, I believe that now more people will give their interest to this Englishland's website. Immediately after the photographs are ready, I help him send to a number of news editor. I also upload these pictures into my blog. Because the title of this blog is Photography without Photos, I don't attach any photos here. Instead, you can see them and read their stories in my other blog The Diary of a Manokwari Tourist Guide:
